We are thrilled to announce that our Orleans Store is now powered by the sun! Solar panels were installed in May and we’re already producing green energy. Current estimates show that Agway will produce roughly 18,000 kWh in the remainder 2018 and more than 30,000 kWh a year moving forward.
The addition of solar panels was part of a large remodel and renovation project at our store in Orleans — Agway of Cape Cod’s original location — located at 20 Lots Hollow Road.
Family owned and operated and celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2018, Agway of Cape Cod has always had a green thumb and warm heart for our planet. This project is part of Agway’s overall green initiatives, which also includes recycling plant pots, cardboard and paper, single stream recycling at all three stores and distributing Mutt Mitts to local parks and outdoor areas to keep our community and waters free of pet waste.
Agway partnered with My Generation Energy, a local solar provider founded in Brewster in 2008, now based in Dennis for the installation of 74 LG high efficiency solar panels. My Generation Energy is a full-service solar energy company that has installed hundreds of residential and commercial solar arrays from north of Boston to Rhode Island.
“All of us here at My Generation Energy are thrilled with our new partnership with Agway! Nothing could be closer to our mission as a company than helping a local, family owned business, like Agway increase their energy efficiency, reduce their carbon footprint and improve their bottom line,” said Abe Boyle, Regional Manager at My Generation Energy.
There are tons of great reasons to choose solar, including cost savings, efficiency and love of the Cape! Did you know that the average home solar system offsets about 100,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide in 20 years – the equivalent of driving a car for 100,000 miles?
