For twenty-five years, Agway of Cape Cod has maintained a tradition of supporting the local community through philanthropic donations and community partnerships. In 2016, we established The Agway of Cape Cod Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization through which that tradition continues.
The mission of The Foundation is to provide meaningful support to local non-profit organizations that help enrich the lives of Cape Cod’s people and animals. The Foundation assists dozens of charities and events annually through financial contributions, donations of products, and “manpower” assistance from our staff. Among the many groups that have benefited are The Orleans Pond Coalition, The Latham Centers, The Santana Fund, The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Brewster Shelter, The MSPCA, The Cape Cod Police K-9 Relief Fund, Wild Care, Taylor Bray Farm, The Companion Animal Fund, The Santana Fund, Sustainable Cape Cod, Flower Angels, Heroes in Transition, The Family Pantry, the Lower Cape Outreach Council and numerous local garden clubs.
The Foundation also hosts a series of its own programs to raise funds. The signature event – Paw Palooza – was launched in 2016. The two-day dog festival takes place annually in July and has raised more than $110,000 for the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Brewster shelter and the MSPCA shelter in Centerville since its inception.
As part of our commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership, we’ve also maintained the “Agway Mutt Mitts” program for more than a decade. Through the program, we offer Mutt Mitts to local parks, towns, conservations and dog groups. Over the years, tens of thousands of Mitts have been donated, resulting in cleaner natural resources, better relations between dog owners and non-dog owners, and water ecosystems that are free of the contaminants from dog waste.
