Road Tripping Season

Road trips are the ultimate way to get out and enjoy the warm weather with all your family members, including your pup. Together you can explore new places, see new sights and smell new smells. With help from we collected a list of tips and essentials you’ll want to pack as you prepare for your pup-friendly adventures:

As happy as a dog can be to stick their head out the window, they can get stressed out when traveling far from home. Keep your routines as close to the ones at home as possible: exercise, potty, meals, water and bedtime. Maintaining your routine gives normalcy to your pup in an unusual situation.

Make sure your dog is up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations and precautionary vaccinations. The big ones: canine parvovirus, distemper, canine hepatitis, and rabies. Carry paperwork for all of your dog’s vaccines. All dog parks require up-to-date vaccinations even if it’s uncommon to be asked about them.

Bring back-ups of everything: Leash, harness, collar, bed, toys, extra food, treats and way more water than you think you’ll need.

You don’t know until you know… but it’s a good idea to bring a full dog washing kit with you on a trip out of town. This includes extra water! Schtuff happens, especially on a hike when
you’re far away from home.
